Future Projects

We have recently developed a collection of EAS projects with various practitioners, organisations and charities. The aim behind these projects is to create opportunities to increase both current EAS practice and the database of EAS research, by offering services to various cohorts and utilising a range of modalities all around NI.

Check out our plans for our upcoming projects below!

Equine Facilitated Learning at Omagh RDA

The staff at Omagh RDA have developed an Equine Facilitated Learning programme. Each programme will be offered to groups and individuals in 10-week blocks, and consist of both ridden and ground-based equine and non-equine-related activities. Incorporating trips to additional EAS facilities, these programmes will offer participants the opportunity to explore EAS and develop their personal skills.

Exploring Psychotherapy with Equines

This project is based around the provision of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, at the facility in Derry. This will incorporating a team of 5 experienced sessional professionals at the Equine Enrichment facility in Derry. They will work together to support and offer 1-1 and group session to a wide range of participants.

Changing Lives Through Horses with RDA

The RDA Causeway Coast & Glens group will provide a group ridden and ground-based programme incorporating the BHS Changing Lives Through Horses programme. This project is aimed at young people, particularly EOTAS participants, offering them a supportive and engaging alternative.

Reducing the Service Demand with Equines

This project is based on a successful Equine Facilitate Therapy programme. This project incorporates both a HSC Trust multidisciplinary team of Allied Health Professionals and the Narrow Water Equestrian team. This alternative service has the potential to be of enormous benefit to young adults and those within the Forensic Learning Disability services.

Developing Youth Empowerment Through EAL

This is a collaboration between Festina Lente (Co. Wicklow) and CAFRE (Co. Fermanagh). The aim of this project is to increase cross-border connections and encourage personal and community development. Small groups of young people will attend Equine Assisted Learning and well-being sessions, provided by NI and ROI-based Festina Lente practitioners at both locations.

All of our work relies on donations and funding grants to take place. It is our intention to start these projects as soon as the required funding is acquired.
