This practice is home to a small, friendly herd of Shetland ponies, ex-racehorse Thoroughbreds, goats, dogs, and cats, creating a peaceful and welcoming environment for visitors. The team offers non-ridden, equine-assisted visits designed around the needs and interests of each person, led by Jo Wheatley, who brings over 40 years of experience working with animals across the UK and US. Visitors of all ages are welcome, with a particular focus on individuals with complex needs, those living in residential or hospice care, and children not currently in mainstream education. They also welcome small groups seeking calm, meaningful time with animals in a supportive setting.

The team has a special interest in providing access for adults with mental health conditions, complex needs, and those living in residential care or hospice settings.
They also work with children who are not currently in mainstream education, those in care, on the autism spectrum, or with behavioural issues.

Former prison officer with HMPS qualifications in:

Experience:
The herd was set up during lockdown in 2020 while living in England. We gradually put the ponies and horses together and they live naturally as a compassionate family herd.
We have welcomed clients and visitors from all backgrounds ever since.
5+ years working with humans and animals 40+ years working with animals of all species in the U.K. and in US.
