The HHRF, HETI and CZU International Prague Symposium brought together researchers, practitioners, educators and professionals from across the world to share current research, emerging evidence and developments in Equine Assisted Services (EAS).
Held on 19th–20th September at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, the symposium was organised collaboratively by the Horses and Humans Research Foundation (HHRF), Horses in Education and Therapy International (HETI) and the university.
The programme featured research presentations, expert panel discussions and opportunities for international collaboration, exploring topics including:
- Current research and emerging evidence in Equine Assisted Services
- Equine welfare and wellbeing
- Therapeutic and educational approaches
- Understanding and measuring outcomes
- Future priorities for research and professional practice
It was encouraging to see contributions from Northern Ireland, including Dr Helen Sharp, who presented on therapeutic ecology and the role of horses, nature and environment in therapeutic change, and Dr Rita Seery, who contributed to discussions on equine wellbeing.
Following the symposium, One Equine Trust was delighted to welcome Rita for an October practitioner webinar, where she shared reflections on some of the research and developments presented in Prague and considered their relevance for EAS practitioners.
The themes explored at the symposium closely reflect One Equine Trust’s commitment to strengthening the evidence base for EAS, supporting research-informed practice and promoting high standards of equine welfare and professional delivery.
